I. Preparation stage

Material selection:

Hat body material: choose soft, breathable and sun-resistant materials, such as cotton, nylon cloth and so on. The choice of material should be based on the season and personal preference, summer can choose light and breathable materials, winter can choose a slightly thicker material.

Auxiliary materials: such as mohair hat head ring (used to strengthen the support), ribbons, lace and other decorations.

Tools: scissors, needle and thread, sewing machine (optional), soft ruler, water-eliminating pen (for marking), ruler, etc.

Measure head circumference and hat height:

Use a soft ruler to measure the wearer's head circumference to ensure that the sun hat will fit properly.

Measure the distance from the forehead hairline to the top of the head to determine the height of the hat.

II. Cutting and Sewing

Cut the material:

Based on the measured head circumference and hat height, plus the appropriate sewing allowance and length of trim around the edge, use a ruler and water-abrasive pen to mark the cut lines on the hat body material.

Use scissors to cut the shape of the hat body along the marked lines.

Sew the hat body:

Fold the cut-out hat body material in half, making sure the front side is facing inwards, and then sew the two folded edges together opposite each other to form the top edge of the hat. This step can be done by hand sewing or using a sewing machine.

Take care to stitch evenly and densely to ensure that the hat stays securely in place.

Add the headband:

Before sewing the lower edge of the hat, place the mohair hat headband in place on the lower edge of the hat and secure it with a needle and thread. This step is to strengthen the support of the hat and make it more upright when worn.

Stitch the lower edge:

Sew the two sides of the lower edge of the hat opposite each other to ensure that the hat is shaped and sized to fit over the head. Also, make sure that the mohair hat headband is securely sewn to the inside of the hat.

Third, decoration and trimming

Edge trimming:

Use scissors to cut off excess material from the edges of the hat to make the edges neat and smooth.

Add decoration:

According to personal preference, sew some decorations, such as ribbons, laces, etc., on the top or bottom edge of the hat. These decorations can not only increase the beauty of the hat, but also play a certain role in sun protection.

Try on and adjust:

The last step is to try on the sun hat to check whether it fits your head. If necessary, some fine-tuning or repair work can be done.

IV. Precautions

Throughout the production process, care should be taken to keep the working environment neat and quiet in order to avoid unnecessary damage to the materials and finished products.

Be careful when sewing to avoid needles and threads pricking fingers or damaging materials.

Clean up the tools and materials in time after completion for next time use.
